Meet The Board
Bill Roedy
Bill Roedy is the Chairman and Chief Executive of MTV Networks International and also the Chairman of the Staying Alive Foundation. Mr Roedy has been leading MTV’s global efforts to promote HIV and AIDS education and lessen the stigma attached to the disease for more than 10 years through the Staying Alive campaign, the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS and the Global Media AIDS Initiative.
Chris Davis
Chris Davis is Head of Global Campaigns of The Body Shop and is responsible for leading the development and implementation of ethical marketing initiatives throughout The Body Shop’s worldwide business. Before joining The Body Shop, Mr. Davis was responsible for global marketing and corporate relations in The International Save the Children Alliance.
Garrett English
Garrett English is Senior Vice President of Production, MTV Music Specials and Events, where he is responsible for special programs such as the MTV Movie Awards and the MTV Video Music Awards. Prior to this, Mr. English worked at MTV Networks International and co-executive produced the Staying Alive Campaign from 2000 to 2004.
Carl Folta
Carl Folta is Executive Vice President of Corporate Relations at Viacom, lnc. where he manages the company's public affairs, corporate philanthropy and corporate events. He launched KNOW HIV/AIDS, Viacom's cross-platform public education campaign to eradicate ignorance about HIV and AIDS.
Jaqualine Kowa
Jacqualine Kowa is one of two ‘ex-Grantee’ board members. Ms Kowa is currently working for Population Services International on maternal Child Health in Mombasa, Kenya. Previously, Jacky worked for National Organization of Peer Educators (NOPE) in the Youth Peer Education Network (Y-PEER) Program as a Kenyan Focal Point.
Rachel Ong
Rachel Ong has worked across the Asia-Pacific region as a peer educator and advocate amongst youth and women since 1999. She is now an advisor of the Asia Pacific Network of PLHIV (APN+). Ms Ong is also an advisor and a member of the International Steering Committee on the International Coalition of Women Living with HIV/AIDS (ICW).
Arletty Pinell
Until recently Arletty Pinell headed up the Reproductive Health Branch of the United Nations Population Fund. Previous to that Ms Pinell has worked for The Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.
Peter Piot
In May 2009 Peter Piot became the first director of the new Institute for Global Health at Imperial College, London. Until December 2008 Dr Piot was the Executive Director of the Joint United Nations Program on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and Assistant-Secretary-General of the United Nations. Prior to UNAIDS, Dr Piot was Associate Director of the Global Program on AIDS of the World Health Organization. He also served as the President of the International AIDS Society and is co-discoverer of the Ebola virus.
Tim Rosta
Until recently, Tim Rosta was the Senior Vice President of Integrated Marketing at MTV US. Mr. Rosta is also the founder and former Executive Director of LIFEbeat, a national non-profit organization dedicated to reaching America's youth HIV prevention messages.
Milena Zaharieva
Milena Zaharieva is one of two ‘ex-Grantee’ board members. Currently Ms Zaharieva is working for UNFPA in Bulgaria. Since 2004 Milena has also been acting national coordinator and focal point of the Y-PEER Bulgaria network and in 2006-2008 has served as Y-PEER international coordinator.
