Capacity-Building Training

The Staying Alive Foundation is proud to support young people with passion. We know that youth are the key to fighting HIV/AIDS in their communities, but we also know that young organisations often struggle to get funding from other donors.

To help build-up their capacity, and to provide them with skills to develop their organisations, we provide all our grantee organisations with training on key subjects:

Organisational Planning and Strategy
Finance and Fundraising
Monitoring and Evaluation
Media and Marketing

Bolivia Training

The Staying Alive Foundation's most recent capacity-building workshop took place in La Paz, Bolivia.

The group was the smallest to date with only 12 participants from 4 different countries: Bolivia, Columbia, Peru and Venezuela.

But it was by no means the quietest! From day one all grantees bonded well and at the end of the day it seemed like they had known each other for years! As usual, all of them came from small organisations and were happy to share their experiences, challenges and successes.

Their energy was amazing, and their stories from the field showed that, no matter what conditions they have to work in, and the challenges they encounter, they will always do everything to succeed.

One of the main issues in South America is discrimination against gay and lesbians, and not always being allowed to talk about HIV. For instance, in Venezuela you can’t talk about sex on the radio. Online, however, the laws are different.

So Wills Wilde have set up an online radio station to be able to talk about everything young people want to know about sex and HIV. You can watch more about what they do below.

You can watch a video about the training that took place in India here and watch a video on Tanzania's training on the home page.
