Designed exclusively for Karmaloop and MTV's Staying Alive Foundation by Shepard Fairey
Karmaloop x Shepard Fairey x Staying Alive Foundation
Karma Loop and Shepard Fairey have teamed up to create a one-of-a-kind t-shirt with 40% of proceeds heading directly to the inspiring young leaders benefited by the Staying Alive foundation. The shirt was exclusively designed by Shepard Fairey, best known for his iconic design of the Barack Obama “HOPE” poster during the 2008 U.S. Presidential election.
Fairey is a popular and influential street artist and DJ who is especially excited and proud of this particular project. “AIDS awareness is really important especially in areas where people aren’t as aware or it’s culturally taboo to talk about it,” says Fairey. “The goal of the T-shirt graphic is to say let’s fight this, to get the message out, to talk about the issue and to encourage safe sex.”
Karmaloop, an online street wear retailer, is excited to be the exclusive carrier of this inspirational product. The t-shirt became available on their website on September 16th and sells for $24.00 It is available in over 35 countries worldwide and it is perfect for the fashionista and the politico, alike.
Sporting this t-shirt isn’t just about supporting the Foundation, it’s making a statement about breaking through the stigma of AIDS and the wearers, “let’s talk about it,” attitude.
